With our location in Inverie, Knoydart being on the Western peninsula of the mainland the most convenient way to reach us is by boat from Mallaig via a 45 minute ferry trip although it is possible to walk here!

From the pier at Inverie turn left taking a short cut through the waiting area building and follow the road round to the left for a few hundred metres. We are the 2 house on your right after the school. We have blue decking to the front of our property.

How to Reach Us

By Ferry
Departing from Mallaig harbour on the Western Isles ferry on weekdays at 10.15 am and 2.15 pm from Tuesday 4th May to Thursday 30th September (summer timetable) and on Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays during other months. If the timetable does not meet your requirements it is possible to charter a boat to get you to and from Knoydart. Please contact us if you require further information about this service. By Car
Drive to Mallaig from Fort William on the A830 Road to the Isles passing a number of interesting attractions such as Ben Nevis, Caledonian Canal, Prince Charlie's Monument, Glenfinnan Viaduct, Morar Beach and Mallaig Harbour.

By Train
Nearest train station is in Mallaig where you can get the ferry or boat to us. The journey between Fort William and Mallaig was voted The Top Railway Journey in the World 2009 by Wanderlust Magazine owing to its stunning and varied landscape including Ben Nevis, Britain's highest mountain and the Glenfinnan Viaduct which was used for the Hogwarts Express in the Harry Potter films.  Click here for National or Scottish railway timetables.

By Sleeper Train
Travel overnight to Fort William on the Caledonian Sleeper from London Euston in either seated or berthed accommodation arriving early morning to continue your journey to Inverie, Knoydart via Mallaig by train, car, local bus or on foot!

By Steam Train - The Jacobite
From mid May to October you can enjoy a delightful journey on the Jacobite steam train between Fort William and Mallaig.

By Plane
Inverness Airport is the closest. There are excellent onward transport links from Inverness to Mallaig. There are also airports at Aberdeen, Glasgow International, Glasgow Prestwick & Edinburgh.

By foot
Inverie in Knoydart is accessible on foot.  Most popular are the walks from Kinloch Hourn (1- 2 days approx 15 miles) & Glenfinnan (3 days approx 27 miles). We are located in the village of Inverie. If you require assistance on planning your walk to Inverie, help and advice is available from the resident rangers at Knoydart Foundation.
