Knoydart is the ultimate destination for outdoor adventurers and those looking for peace, tranquillity and fresh air.  It offers a very varied landscape combining lots of open space, magnificent scenery and water making it feel like an Island experience and provides a habitat for many species of wildlife eg polecats, pine martins, minke whales, basking sharks, dolphins, porpoises, otters, seals, herons, buzzards, eagles, oyster catchers and other wading birds.

Knoydart Foundation
The Knoydart Foundation provides a range of outdoor activities in and around Knoydart, including ranger-led guided walks, nature trails, mountain bike trails and conservation volunteer days.

Jim Manthorpe
Local resident, Jim Manthorpe is a travel writer and photographer specialising in landscapes, wildlife and adventure travel.  He also works as a ranger for Knoydart Foundation.  

Photostalking & Deer Management Activities
The Knoydart Foundation also offers photostalking and deer management days, tracking red deer across heathery moors, looking for the perfect photograph.

Fishing
The Kilchoan Estate offers fishing in the nearby Inverie River or at Loch-an-Dubh-Lochain. Or for spectacular scenery and excellent fishing, you can visit Loch Brhoamisaig which is 800 feet above sea level and well worth the one and half hours it takes to get there.

Walks & Nature Trails
We have numerous walks in and around Knoydart to suit different abilities. Leaflets and guidance are available from the Knoydart Foundation Rangers as mentioned above.

Munros, Munro & Summit Baggers
For those of you who enjoy munro walking and bagging we have 3 Munros within Knoydart, one of which is classified as a 'Thousander'.   Luinne Bheinn (939m), Ladhar Bheinn (1020m) & Meall Buidhe (946m).

Boat Hire & Trips
The waters around Knoydart are frequently visited by a variety of birds, seals, porpoises, dolphins, whales and basking sharks. Sea Knoydart offers leisurely boat trips allowing you to explore these amazing waters in style. You can charter the boat for an hour, a day or even a whole week. Sea Knoydart is a Royal Yachting Association recognised powerboat school.

Local Attractions
The Old Forge is Britain's remotest pub and is situated a short walk from us in Inverie.  The pub has an excellent menu based around local seafood and other Highland produce. 

Other places to eat include Knoydart Pottery & Tea room.

Transport & Travel

With our remote setting, much of the local transport is water based. Bruce Watt cruises run a ferry service between Inverie and Mallaig out of season on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and Monday - Friday inclusive during the main tourist season. Please note that we are now on the out of season timetable operating on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays only until Tuesday 4th May 2010 when the Monday - Friday service commences until Thursday 30th September 2010.
